How to include art in your interior design plan?

The art objects are those that are the last and most important elements of the furnishing of your home. They are the finishing touches that will make your home a cozy, desired and favorite place for you and your family.
Below we will try to give you a set of professional advice and guidelines that are good to follow in the process of incorporating art as part of the interior design.

Follow your own taste

When choosing items for your home, remember that they - above all – should be liked by you and bring you the desired mood. Even if you do not understand the details of art and listen to the advice of experts, do not make drastic compromises with your own aesthetic criteria.
In other words - do not succumb to the opinion of art professionals about an object, painting or sculpture. If you are unsure about something, ask for more suggestions and opinions. At all costs you should like the art with which you will decorate your home.

Buy wisely

Investing in art certainly falls into the category of "long-term investment: So carefully check all the options and do not indulge in spontaneous purchases during the holidays for example.
Research carefully the artists, sculptors, painters and interior designers you like, then ask from where you can buy them so as to ensure optimal value for money.

Consider the space carefully

Every object, including art samples - paintings, sculptors, lighting fixtures, etc. - must be tailored to the size and proportions of your home.
It is best before you start furnishing, to think about what art objects would you like to place. If we are talking about paintings, it is also important whether you want to hang it on a wall, put it on a cabinet or lean against the wall (this is quite a sensational trend).
If you want to fill your walls with many paintings, always start with the largest and then add the rest in size.

Types of paintings according to the size

According to their size, the paintings are divided into several types, from which you can choose:

  • Extra large size. These are paintings over a meter long. Their only place is in the central room of your home, on the wall with the greatest visibility. They must be placed over large furniture, such as a sofa or a dining table.
  • Large size. These are paintings with a frame between 80 and 100 centimeters. You can place them on a wall against a large painting, or create a combination of several similar paintings on your main wall.
  • Medium size. Here we have a frame between 60 and 80 centimeters. This is the size with the most convenient application. The best is a combination of two similar paintings on the same wall. Or a picture in an unexpected room like a kitchen or a second bedroom.
  • Small size. This group includes paintings with a frame between 45 and 60 centimeters. You can easily group them together. The most recommended combination is of 4 or 6 similar paintings, creating a dynamic and moving effect.

Consider the colors of the furniture

Match the art objects you buy with the color scheme in your home. Don't always count on the contrast as a good idea. You can create "color spots" that irritate you and ruin the whole meaning of a painting. Or give an inadequate look to your chosen furniture or wall color, for example.
Therefore, consider the color form, take pictures and print a picture or sculpture. So you can test it in the interior to see if it is well positioned in the room of your choice.
