Inspired by the pandemic: 5 interesting trends in the interior design
It certainly takes a bit of creativity to try to analyze the potential positives of what the world has offered us over the last two years.
Prolonged social distancing, a sharp change in lifestyle… And a new life for the concept of "home-fortress", which has literally become a stage for all kinds of activities and experiences.
Although challenging, these moments brought us some unexpectedly fresh interior trends. And for most of them we are sure that they will remain trendy and long after we forget about their unfortunate origin.
Homemade cocktail-bars
The bar at home was for a long time considered as rather exotic… Until it became the only alternative to a bar.
The good news? This kind of idea can go through endless improvisations - from simple arrangement of the living room with additional shelves for drinks, to extravagant solutions such as hanging countertops, massive standing bars and additional tables.
Combined with the right sound system, things start to look (and sound!) just right.
Creative recreation areas
When the home turns into an office, kindergarten, school, university and canteen at the same time, the recreation area begins to look like a very logical solution.
Therefore, in the situation of a pandemic and / or quarantine, the creation of individual spaces for "recharging" turned out to be an easy to implement and a particularly pleasant project.
Here, too, the ideas are more important than the size. The area can be a whole separate room or a corner in the living room. All you have to do is to make it look good - with a soft bean bag and a bookshelf, a massage chair and video games, a dim light and real green plants… And with the potential to get you out of the routine, even if you won’t be out physically!
New life for the yard and the balcony
One of the biggest advantages during social distancing turned out to be one's own, private open space, existing as part of the home.
It is no surprise that millions of people around the world have been motivated to transform these priceless little oases - with additional furniture, hand-made landscape, romantic lighting, color change or simply an equipment with additional accessories.
Fortunately, this was a wonderful time to realize how important contact with nature is and to continue to appreciate it in our home, even when it is now also fully accessible outside.
Many individual spaces
If before the pandemic the ideal home was about breadth, space and a large open space, now things are a little different.
This is especially true in houses with many occupants, where business conversations, chemistry lessons, university exams and online zumba classes have been held in the same room for months.
The small and well-defined spaces give us the opportunity to step aside and enjoy a certain amount of personal space, even if it is rather an abstraction.
Fitness corners at home
Fitness, dancing, training, sports and dynamics… Although until recently incompatible with the interior of the bedroom or kitchen, for example, today they are ready to happen anywhere, anytime.
Although there are no such statistics, we assume that most homes today are much better equipped with fitness equipment and accessories than they were two years ago.
And this… This is actually great news! Because even the most challenging situation can carry its charm, as long as we look at it from the right angle and keep it for as long as possible.
